Embodied with the Ignacian Marian spirit, the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) commences its anticipated Dilaab 2021, the second virtual Intramural League.

Spearheaded by the University Student Government (USG) of UIC, the online battle opens its arena with the blazing theme, “Igniting the Transformative Ignacian Marian Spirit Amidst Uncertainties to Surpass Boundaries of the New Normal Through Academic, Cultural and E-Sport Activities,” on November 12, 2021, via Facebook livestream.

The university has once again accepted the challenge of the week-long celebration of camaraderie and sportsmanship through the showcasing of talents in the virtual stage. Despite the restrictions by the current situation, the opening program of Dilaab 2021 was warmed and hyped with the virtual cheers and yells of the students and faculty members of the university, expressing their support for their respective clusters.

Heat and excitement dazzled in the online platform as the students from the College of Medical and Biological Sciences (CMBS) howled for their cluster, Chimera. Students from the College of Pharmacy and Chemistry (CPC) and College of Music (CM) hissed the loudest as they raised the banner of Cluster Serpent.

Despite being caged in their respective homes, Cluster Cheetah released their greatest growl as the students from the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA), College of Human Environmental Sciences and Food Studies (CHEFS), College of Teacher Education (CTE), and College of Nursing (CN) joined their voices as one. The sharp eyes and powerful groan of Cluster Canine were heard as the students from College of Arts and Humanities (CAH), College of Computer Studies (CCS), and College of Accountancy and Business Education (CABE) fused their forces.

As the battles for victory aroused, Mrs. Anaflor E. Sacopayo, the Director of Student Affairs and Discipline (OSAD) conveyed her gratitude to the governors and officers of the different colleges and to the whole team of USG for taking on the challenge of making the event possible in her opening remarks. She also thanked the faculty of Physical Education headed by Mr. Rene Babiera II for extending their help in every activity even before the pandemic.

“To all the UICians, as we cheer for our respective teams, let us all remember that after all the competitions, at the end of the day, we still belong to one team, we are team UIC,” Ms. Sacopayo as she pointed out the value of unity at the end of her opening remarks.

Afterwards, Mr. Rene Babiera II, the Bachelor of Physical Education, Culture, and Arts/Sports Coordinator, officially declared the event open, this was succeeded by the students’ oath of sportsmanship led by UIC Dance Sports Varsity Athlete, Christian Mig Cameros.

As the pandemic continues to pitch challenges, the absence of face-to-face interaction did not hinder the energy of the UIC community in supporting their teams as it dominated the social media world with the trending #UICeNTRAMURALS21.
