Fueled with grit and tenacity, representatives from different clusters showcased their literary prowess in the eLIT Competition during the celebration of Dilaab 2021 last November 12, via the official Facebook Page of the University Student Government (USG).

With the incessant passion of the students in illuminating their crafts, the virtual league has been more exciting as the entries of each team were flooded with love and wow reactions. Students kept mentioning and sharing, creating a parade of entries and online applause.

The results were announced on November 19 during the Dilaab Closing Ceremony, awarding the students who jumped their way to success.

Blazing eloquence in the virtual battlefield, Joel Augustine Generoso from the Coalition of Cheetahs was hailed champion in the Public Speaking Event, placing Marian Barluado from the Serenading Serpents as first runner-up, and Maria Frances Dianne Incipido from the Coalition of Cheetahs as second runner-up respectively.

Shadow Chimeras’ pride Den Wesley Balboa reigned triumphant in the Digital Poster Making, while Reyselen Princess Narit from the Coalition of Cheetahs bagged second place and Korinne Savillaga from the Serenading Serpents seized third rank.

Aubrey Grace Labadan from the Shadow Chimeras was declared champion in the Traditional Poster Making, placing Nicole Oquias from the Ravaging Canines as second-best, and Faith Barcelona from the Serenading Serpents coming in third place.

Crafting a writing piece out of this year’s theme, Shadow Chimeras’ rep Junah Dayaganon copped championship in the Essay Writing, followed by Denise Gail Tonatos from the Shadow Chimeras and Mia Khyla Ellaine Bonoan from the Serenading Serpents.

In the Quarantine Photography Challenge, the winning photo of Shaira Carcueva from the Ravaging Canines paved the way to her victory, with James Vary Bais as second-ranked and Honey Mae Alemania as third-ranked, both from the Serenading Serpents.

“As a fourth-year student, my willingness to finish my studies together with my friends and classmates is my inspiration in the photo. The main reason I chose that concept is its proven fact that nowadays, the highlight of our “stay at home serye” is our online classes,” Shaira Carcueva, a Management Accounting student, as she shared her inspiration behind the winsome photo.

She also stated that the photograph will serve as an eye-opener for the students to always look on the brighter side of their dreams despite struggles during online learning as it represents the eagerness to reach life goals.

In the battle of logical reasoning, the debaters from the Ravaging Canines were announced champion in this year’s Debate Competition, winning against the Coalition of Cheetahs in the final round.

Ravaging Canines’ debater John Carlo Lim was proclaimed as the best speaker for finals, while Jaya Sarte from the Serenading Serpents for the elimination round.

Powered with heartening emotions, Serenading Serpents’ reps captured the most hearts in the Radio Play Competition, followed by the Coalition of Cheetahs and Ravaging Canines.

Displaying cinematic scenery in the Short Film Competition, artists from the Coalition of Cheetahs won the championship title, placing the Serenading Serpents as first runner-up and the Ravaging Canines as second runner-up.

In the Video Mimic Contest, contenders from the Ravaging Canines induced the most laughs as they were claimed champion, with the Coalition of Cheetahs as first and Serenading Serpents as second.

“Since it is our last intramural in UIC, I can honestly say that Dilaab 2021 is really memorable because it was my first time participating in an intramural competition and I won. It is also memorable as our Cluster — the Ravaging Canines claimed the overall championship and as a CABE student, I am delighted because we bring back the throne,” Ms. Carcueva asserted.

The success of the eLIT Competition was made possible by the efforts of the officers-in-charge, USG’s technical team, faculty and staff, administrators, partnered UIC offices and organizations, as well as the utmost participation of the students which ignited their passion in the field of their expertise.
