Embodying cultural diverseness, students of the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) crossed the mythical boundary in an online platform to excel in the e-COOLTURAL event during the DILAAB: E-Ntramural League 2021, streamed via YouTube lastNovember 18.
The event was subdivided into six categories namely Luksong Lubid, Takyan, Tumbang Preso, Vocal Solo Acoustic, Vocal Solo OPM, and Vocal Duet OPM, where the aspirants showcased their exemplary guts by sending their entries to the University Student Government (USG).
Ana C. Sedillo of the Coalition of Cheetahs leaped her way to victory in the Luksong Lubid and claimed the championship trophy, with Saivir John Brainson H. Gonzales of the Ravaging Canines in the second place, Rhoegin Thea Nicol S. Gamboa of the Serenading Serpents in third place, and Alexander O. Malack of the Ravaging Canines in the fourth spot.
Balance and coordination fueled Raul Angelo Bautista of the Ravaging Canines to rule the Takyan tournament, followed by Jesthron MG G. Nesperos and Bridgette L. Modo, both from the Coalition of Cheetahs in the second and third place, respectively, and Glenn Michael Nituda of the Ravaging Canines in the fourth.
Representatives from the Ravaging Canines namely Ceazar Ian C. Iwag and Shadow Chimeras, in the person of Alea Len C. Arellano tied in the first place of Tumbang Preso, with Elmer Jhon E. Cas of the Serenading Serpents, Angela Marie C. Baula of the Ravaging Canines, and Carl Joshua L. Montebon of the Coalition of Cheetahs claiming the second, third, and fourth-best, respectively.
“When I was a child, I never experienced playing cultural games such as Tumbang Preso. Even during the face-to-face Intramural Season, I only play ball games. Playing Tumbang Preso for the first time hits so different for me since it is also my last year in college, and I honestly had fun. My goal is just to experience the game and represent the College of Accountancy and Business Education (CABE) and our cluster, the Ravaging Canines, but I didn’t expect to win third place in this game,” said Angela Marie C. Baula, a volleyball enthusiast.
In the Vocal Solo Acoustic, Alyanna Marie P. Brodith of the Shadow Chimeras manifested her vocal prowess, bagging the first place, followed by Godwin Miles S. Maunes of the Serenadin Serpents in the second rank, Kimberly Queen A. de Leon of the Shadow Chimeras in the third, and Stephen John C. Pondara of the Ravaging Canines in the fourth rank.
Ysabel Paul B. Geronimo of the Coalition of Cheetahs grabbed the limelight in the Vocal Solo OPM, placing her first, with Edzyl C. Dosono and Angelo Jade Ventura, both from the Ravaging Canines in the second and third place, respectively, while Sheenah Lorey Mante of the Serenading Serpents in the fourth place.
Singing to their hearts’ rhythm, Benson Lex M. Mudanza and Nikki Jean M. Gerona of the Shadow Chimeras clinched the first spot in the Vocal Duet OPM, followed by Jovilance D. Lumogdang and Ferlyn Gapuz of the Serenading Serpents landing in the second, Keen Aubrey F. Alicer and Crezelene Love F. Alibang of the Shadow Chimeras in the third, and Edrian Joe B. Domingo and Tricha Louise Lopez of the Ravaging Canines in the fourth rank.
“These individuals are blessed to have the talent they possess. They were great with their performance, both the cultural game players and the singing contestants because one can see through their entries that they gave their best and that they gave what they can, so they will not fail their respective clusters and colleges,” said Alliyah Grace Zarza, the USG-Treasurer and the Officer-In-Charge of the said event.
“Despite all the struggles they faced just to finish their entries, they fulfilled their obligations and promises with perseverance and determination, and finished it without dishonesty and unethical conduct. They exhibited faith, excellence, and service, and with these values, they prove to us that they embody the characteristics of a true Ignacian Marian,” she added.
